Melbourne has a lot to offer students.  It is the home of many prestigious Australian education and training providers, creating a conducive study environment and a wide range of support services.

Melbourne is a planned city:  a tidy, balanced grid of neatly angled streets.  Public transport on buses, trains or the world-class Melbourne trams provides much convenience to go out and about.

In addition to the elegant Victorian-era buildings and Manhattan-style skyscrapers, Melbourne presents trendy fashion stores, some of the best cafes and restaurants in Australia, the famous botanic gardens, sports stadiums and art events (including film/music festivals, operas, ballet, theatre) in opulent theatres and concert halls. Melbourne also has a harmonious multicultural community in the city, suburbs and country towns.

Throughout the year, there are many cultural festivals taking place in the city or regional areas, for example the Chinese/Vietnamese New Year celebration, Italian festival, Spanish festival and Greek festival to name a few.

TRANSPORT
The campus is a three minute walk from Melbourne Central Station and is located between several major tram routes.  Additionally, several different buses stop right outside our front door. For students wishing to drive, there is paid parking available 50 metres from the Academy.

WHERE TO STAY

If requested, the Academy is happy to arrange short or long term accommodation on your behalf.
Click here for a list of accommodation providers.

AIRPORT PICK-UP
Airport pick up can be easily arranged for you by the Academy.  Please request this service at the time of application. (charges may apply)

COST OF LIVING (for International Students)
For students coming from overseas, it is estimated that a minimum of AUD$12,000 is required per year in addition to your course fees. However, this is only an indication and may vary depending on your lifestyle.

WORKING IN AUSTRALIA (for International Students)
Many students are successful in gaining employment to supplement their living expenses. Your visa may be restricted to the type and amount of work you will be allowed to do while in Australia. For more information on working conditions, visit: www.immi.gov.au

UNDER 18
(for International Students)
You are required to have a legal guardian who accepts legal responsibility for your welfare until such time as you turn 18 years old.  This person must be living in Melbourne and must be over the age of 21.

If you are under 18 at the time of commencement of training with Pivot Point and are not accompanied by a parent, accommodation must be arranged for you by Pivot Point.  In the event that you have a family member or friend living in Melbourne, that you wish to stay with, they will be required to undergo an inspection by the Academy and all household members over the age of 18 years will be required to obtain a Working with Children check. This must be arranged prior to your commencement of training with Pivot Point International Academy Melbourne.  As an under 18 student, you are not permitted to change accommodation or guardianship under any circumstances without prior permission from the Academy.

DEPENDENTS (for International Students)
Your dependant children may stay with you while you study in Australia if their names are included on your student visa application. Under Australian law all school aged children (approximately 5 to 15 years old) are required to attend school full time at a school of your choice whether private or public (Government owned). However, you must pay all school fees for your children in full.
