What courses can I study if I have no background or experience in hairdressing?
If you have no previous experience in hairdressing, you can study the course WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing which is competency based training where, each student progresses according to their learning ability.

This course covers the Pivot Point Scientific Approach 7 disciplines which includes: Ladies’ Hair Sculpture, Men’s Hair Sculpture, Hair Design, Long Hair Design, Colour Design, Perm Design and Salon Success for People Skills. This will provide you with a solid foundation to build your hairdressing skills and move on to complete WRH40106 Certificate IV in Hairdressing for more advanced training, with specialist skills.

You may also study WRH50106 Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management that is more business orientated and teaches aspects of salon management and operation.


For Domestic student only - WRH20106 Certificate II in Hairdressing is available which is a 22 week course to give a very brief introduction to hairdressing. This may be suited to those thinking of doing an apprenticeship or for those want to try out hairdressing. This course is not available for International Students.


I already have experience in hairdressing – what courses would be suitable for me?
If you have already got experience in the hairdressing industry, you may be eligible to do the course WRH40106 Certificate IV in Hairdressing . This course builds on what you have learnt during WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing and delves into more complex hairdressing techniques.



What fees will I have to pay for my course and how can get a list of the course fees?
Your Course Fees will comprise of 3 main components. These include (1) Enrolment Fee, (2) Tuition Fee, (3) Equipment, Resources and Textbooks Fees.

These fees also cover the costs of hair products that you will use in your course such as shampoo, conditioner and colours meaning you will not have to pay any more fees.

What other activities can I do while at Pivot Point besides my studies to improve my skills?
When you study at Pivot Point International Academy, you not only study hairdressing but you are also encouraged to get involved in activities relating to hairdressing industry such as hair shows, photo shoots and hair competitions (International Hairstylists Society, Hair Expo and Hair and Beauty Industry Association).

The Academy also organises free-of-charge hairdressing seminars and hair demonstrations for students on regular basis.

Can I pay my fees in installments or in a payment plan?
You can pay your Course Fees in 3 (three) payment options:

Payment Plan A: Pay full amount in advance (5% discount on tuition).
Payment Plan B: Quarterly payment by installments.
Payment Plan C: Monthly payment by installments.

The amount of fees you will have to pay will depend on the course you are studying.

 DOMESTIC STUDENTS


Who qualifies to be a Domestic Student?
To qualify to be a domestic student, you must be either an Australian Citizen, have Australian Permanent Residency or be a humanitarian refugee.

New Zealand citizens who have permanent residency status in Australia and have entered Australia after 26 January 2001 are also eligible to apply as a Domestic Student.


How old do I have to be to enrol at Pivot Point?
To enrol at Pivot Point International Academy Melbourne, you must be at least 16 years of age but recommend that you wait until you are 18 to attend.


What do I have to do to enrol at Pivot Point?
To enrol at Pivot Point International Academy, you must have a keen interest in hairdressing, be at least 16 years of age and agree to the Pivot Point Policies and Procedures and Code of Practice.

To start your enrolment, you will need to book an appointment for an Academy Tour and Interview where you will receive your application pack. You need to fill in the application form and send it back to the Academy.

The Academy will then send you a confirmation letter. You will need to provide any additional paperwork and fees required at least 1 week prior to your Orientation Day.

You must attend your Orientation Day as outlined in your training schedule before commencing your studies. Once this is done, you will begin your training at Pivot Point.


What sort of documentation do I need to enrol?

For your initial application, you will need to provide the following documents:
  • Certified copy (or report card) of the latest education completed
  • Brief Resume
  • Completed Enrolment Application


Can I get support from Centrelink while I am studying at Pivot Point?

Yes. Pivot Point International Academy is Austudy approved so you will be able to apply for Centrelink support depending on your individual situation.



 APPRENTICESHIPS

Does Pivot Point provide training for apprentices?
Yes. Pivot Point International Academy Melbourne provides training for both salon-based apprenticeships and school-based apprenticeships. Apprentices can study 
WRH30106 Certificate III in Hairdressing either Day Release or Block Release.

How do I enrol my apprentice?
To enrol your apprentice at Pivot Point International Academy, you will need to contact the Academy to request an Apprentice Enrolment Pack.

Once you have completed all the required documentation from the pack, the apprentice will need to attend an Enrolment & Pre-Training Review. After the interview, Pivot Point will put together a Training Plan for the apprentice that proposes commencement and completion dates for each unit.

Pivot Point will send you a Confirmation of Enrolment and an Orientation Pack. You will need to finalise any additional documentation that is required before the apprentice commences training.

The Apprentice must commence and attend as per their training plan.


What sort of fees and equipment will I need to provide for my apprentice?
Pivot Point International Academy offers apprenticeship training that can be delivered with funding from NSW Department of Education and Training through the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Training Program, to cover some of the tuition fees for the training. Pivot Point resources and hair goods may be purchased progressively during their training. The apprentice may also receive a voucher from the government to purchase their tools and equipment (tools for your trade).

How will I know how well my apprentice’s studies are going?
At Pivot Point International Academy, we make a point keep you updated on your apprentice’s training progress throughout the duration of their studies via monthly reviews against their training plan. You will know exactly how they are doing and will be notified if we see that they are having difficulties with certain concepts so that you may show them a bit of additional support when they need it.
